As some of you may know, my Dad, Reg, was diagnosed with Lung Cancer nearly 3 years ago. True to form, he has battled it ever since, and still, at the age of 88, he is soldiering on and still able to carry out most of his household chores, and enjoy the odd day out with the family. He is one of the lucky ones, as many people with this awful disease don't last as long as he has. 

 

I couldn't be more proud of him, and wanted to do something to show my appreciation of him, and of the other people suffering from this disease, but also to try to help the many Doctors, Scientists and Carers trying to help to cure the disease or alleviate the suffering of those that have it. 

 

I applied for a place in the London Marathon 2012, running on behalf of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, and am delighted to say that I have just received the phone call to confirm that I have been accepted!!! 

Although I have run a couple of marathons previously, these were all around 30 years ago! For my part, I now have the gruelling process of building up to around 60 miles per week over the next 6 months or so.... 

 

Therefore, should you feel inclined, I would be grateful for any offers / pledges of sponsorship, however small, in order for me to reach (or hopefully exceed) my minimum sponsorship pledge of £2,000.
